History

In 2008 “Markoni’s” officially opens its renovated school building (the current three-storeyed building with its adjacent relaxation and teaching-in-the-open zones, as well as a mini-school theatre hall), which impresses students, clients, guests and friends with its unique atmosphere, artistic spirit and style. “Markoni’s” students have already got the choice of instruction in 9 different foreign languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Greek, Turkish, and Chinese.

The Markoni’s Language Centre team is pleased to share the fact that every new academic year the clients’ interest in the school increases progressively. Thus, together with the constantly increasing number of children, teenagers, adult learners and corporate clients from Botevgrad Municipality, “Markoni’s” seems to have also become a favourite language school for a lot of students from the whole region commuting to Botevgrad once or twice a week from Pravets, Etropole, Vratsa, Teteven, Zlatitsa, Pirdop, and even from the capital Sofia in order to study foreign languages at “Markoni’s”.

Undoubtedly, though, the most significant international recognition for “Markoni’s” distinguishing the language centre from all the other language schools in Bulgaria is given to the Markoni’s Language Centre in April, 2012 when it becomes THE FIRST BULGARIAN SCHOOL to be nominated by The British Council in the UK for the ELTons-2012 Awards – THE “OSCARS” for innovation in English language teaching.

To be nominated for the awards Markoni’s has won the high appraisal of the ELTons international panel of judges (working independently to select the short-listed entries) with its innovative product – “Markoni’s Fancy-dress Balls”, which has successfully been realised in Botevgrad every year around Christmas since the foundation of the school in 2005.

This recognition deservedly places MARKONI’S trademark and logo alongside the biggest names in the ELT world – Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Pearson, Macmillan.

In September 2014, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the school, is officially opened the new Markoni’s Garden Library, blessed in person by His Grace The Lovech Bishop Gavriil.

In March 2015 the international success of “Markoni’s” is multiplied as Nikolay Nikolov, the school manager, is nominated for a second time by The British Council in the UK for The ELTons 2015 innovation awards in “The Macmillan Education Award for New Talent in Writing”category for his product “T.I.M.E. for teenagers” (a book set – a Teacher’s Book /methodology/ for ESL teachers ; a Teacher’s Evaluation Book based on the T.I.M.E. method evaluation criteria; a pack of 46 flash cards with the practice exercises instructions; a pack of 2 CDs with audio recordings and photocopiable materials and 2 DVDs with sample T.I.M.E.-based language and drama exercises, as well as a recording of a full sample T.I.M.E. play)

In June, 2015 MARKONI’S becomes an ACCREDITED MEMBER of The Bulgarian Association For Quality Language Services OPTIMA after an accreditation inspection, which the school passed with distinction.
